djlogo-2546730

Dong Juan restaurant originated in Cebu 10 years ago.  A play on the word Don to evoke  quality and well curated ingredients and Dong which means kuya in Cebu, the restaurant makes it  known that  your dining experience will be more enjoyable because of the care they put in buying the best ingredients for your pleasure

This branch in Marikina just opened last October 6 at Lamp’s Quarters  and we were fortunate to have been invited today to try out their best sellers.

Dong Juan Ultimate Bacon Burger P299

A quarter pound of extra juicy 100% USDA pure beef patty wrapped in smoked bacon and topped with bacon. Buns are made of whole wheat and oat . Home made chips for sides.

Burger patty was indeed juicy and tasty.  I loved the oats on the home made wheat bun providing the much needed texture. The chips were thinly sliced and crunchy.

Asian Style Crisspy Pork Knucles P489

Per Ms. Aubrey , pork was boiled  with herbs and spices for several hours until tender. Then it was deep fried. It was a classic method of cooking the crispy pata. The skin was crurnchy. The taste of the meat inside was  delicious and well seasoned.

Gambas Al Ajillo Pasta P269

The linguini was al dente. The shrimps were succulent and cooked perfectly. The sauce’s flavor though was  was very subtle.

Kalamansi Blush P89

For P89 it was a steal. The mason jar was larger than usual. The calamansi was refreshing. The combination of strawberry and calamansi was different and exciting. I loved that you can sip whole strawberries through straw. Definitely ordering this again when I come back.

Dong Juan All Meat Special P369

Biscuit Pizza kneaded with basil, oregano and parmesan cheese then topped with pepperoni, salami, pork, beef and 3 kinds of cheese.

The pizza crust was a totally different texture than what I was used to. I was expecting chewy and doughy and I got crispy like a biscuit.

The toppings are good.

Dong Juan’s Pizzas are baked  in their own-designed Brick Oven with Charcoal kindle.

djoven2-7125877 Summary : The ambiance was homey and cosy. The food was generally good. I loved that the ingredients were obviously well chosen carefully.  The only  negative I can think of was its distance from my usual haunts.
