It was a stormy morning. Classes were suspended anew. I traversed Edsa with Manong C to reach my first North Food Crawl in time. I was quite excited to experience what would be a food-filled day. The sky was overcast and raining quite heavily as we neared our destination.. A perfect day to pig out hahaha.
Imagine 7 restaurants in a few hours. I wonder how my stomach will be able to handle this non-stop eating. Actually formulating a strategy re how not to over-indulge. Good luck to me.
The first one on the list is Rub located at UP Town Center Diliman. This is a restaurant owned by a lovely young couple who told us that they originally started in Sct. Rallos , opened a second branch in Kapitolyo, and this latest one at UP Town Center.
Here were the dishes served to us :
Burito Bowl P235 – Chicken or pulled pork plus cilantro rice , veggies and dressing. It looked simple almost bland-looking with its monochromatic green color, but you have got to try it.
This bowl was fresh with the crisp lettuce and corn. It was satisfying and quite filling because of the cilantro rice. The vinaigrette provides that smidgen of citrus that the dish needed. For me this dish is comfort food.
I loved that it was an all in one meal. You have your protein, carbs and vegies for P235. Sulit . 5/5
Chicken Wings P280 – I loved the sauce and the chicken although I have tasted more plump ones before. But the flavor is there. 4/5
BBQ Beef Rib Fingers P310. The sauce was delicious. The ribs were almost fall of the bone. The mash was yum. 4.5/5
Cajun Fried Ribs P400 – Fried riblets with honey chipotle dip and side salad. It was a joy to try this deep fried riblets. Gave me an idea what to do with the ribs I will be cooking at home. Thank you Rub. The portion was generous.The ribs were tender and flavorful. The salad assuaged the guilt of this carnivore. Everything on this plate was good. Two of my piggery can share this. The only thing missing were cups of rice hahaha. 5/5
All in all , I really enjoyed myself in Rub. Our piggery will most definitely love Rub’s ribs. I can visualize handsome hubby’s smile when he sees how reasonable the price of each order of meal here is hahaha
