Foodie Meet Up At Village Tavern

img_1021-5097540

Pleasantly surprised to know that Village Tavern is part of the Bistro Group that gave the food landscape  in the  Metro such gems  as Italianni’s, Friday’s, Watami,  Krispy Garlic, Bulgogi Brothers to name a few.

Together with 9 other foodies, we all trekked yesterday to its location in the second floor of  Bonifacio High Street Central, 7th Avenue BGC Taguig after  our  Foodie Meet Up at Cafe Barbera.

It  was my first time in Village Tavern and I was quite excited to have a taste of their food.

Here was the spread served to us :

Kani Salad

Spicy Kani salad  (P345) was kind of sinful ,with aligue dressing  assuming  I heard their Manager Mark correctly when he was describing the dish. Although I did not  discern any aligue taste, the dressing itself was flavorful The greens were still crisp despite the generous vinaigrette. It was simple and straightforward. It said spicy but it was really not. If you want  a little more  kick on your dish simply verbalize your request to the waiter. Service here is topnotch 3/5/5

Regular cowboy chips
Regular cowboy chips  (P475) were crisp and colorful. Portions were a bit small though. 3/5

Buffalo Mozzarella Burger

The Buffalo Mozzarella Burger (P395) looked scrumptious and tasted delicious, It was juicy and flavorful. It came with yummy fries  and two kinds of dip. I loved the cheese dip. My problem with this dish is its size. It looks like a slider. Therefore, it may take 2 to 3 orders of these to satisfy our ‘piggery’. For us ladies though, it is just the perfect size

Spaghetti Ala Vongole

Spaghetti Ala Vongole  or Seafood Pasta (P450)  –   What’s not to love ? The spaghetti is al dente. The sauce had layers and layers of flavor. Do not forget to squeeze lemon or lime on top before serving. The mussels were succulent. My only peeve about this dish is again its portion. If it were just me, I can not finish all of it. I will be able to share it with my husband and I will still feel stuffed. But when it comes to our piggery, this would be a personal size.  4.5/5

Mango Mojito, Green Harvest , Apple Mojito

I am thirsting now for Village Tavern’s Green Harvest  (P75).  It has malungay, green  apple and pineapple. The combination of those 3 components was refreshing plus you feel  healthier because of the malunggay. 4.5/5

Between the Mango Mojito and Apple Mojito, I prefer the former. They are both refreshing though but with alcohol content so watch out. Each order is P175.

High Street Platter

High Street Platter (P1350) – composed of two huge fish tacos, 3 pieces of porchetta,  potatoes  with cheese and 3 pcs chicken. This is good for 3-4  people. I loved the fish tacos. I can not finish one if I have to taste a little of the pasta, the porchetta and the chicken. You know what if you order rice, this platter would satisfy 4 people. 4.5/5

Main Street Platter

Main Street Platter P1150  – 3 pcs chicken, two pieces large porkchop, 2 salad wrap, potato and cheese. This is fillling.  The chicken were crispy and flavorful . Somebody mentioned that it tasted like Jollibee and he meant it as a compliment. My favorite in this platter though is the juicy porkchops.  Just add rice and  i think this platter will satisfy two of my piggery 4.5

Shrimp and Grits

Shrimp and Grits P425 — Grits here is a combination of mashed potatoes and gruyere.  Although it was not particularly inviting,  with the grits looking like cold cheese and the shrimps sparse, it surprisingly tasted very good. Our piggery will love this as an appetizer.  3.5/5

Ambiance :    I liked it. It was cosy. It invites one to relax and just chill with a drink in your hand while waiting for your food to arrive 4.5/5

Service : Attentive and cheerful

Restroom : Clean

Location : Good.

Price : Be prepared to shell out at least P900 per head if you ordered drinks , salad and appetizers. But if you have the BFF or Bistro Card, you can get a hefty discount from your total bill.

Verdict : Definitely a good alternative to our family favorite – Friday’s.
